Lone Pine, California
The Alabama Hills, just west of Lone Pine have been a popular place for making movies since the 1920s. In the center of this picture is Mount Whitney, the highest peak in the lower 48 states at 14,496 feet.

The Film History Museum in Lone Pine has an excellent video highlighting movies that have been made in the area, as well as numerous exhibits and displays.

Just a few miles north of Lone Pine is an impressive museum at Manzanar, one of several Japanese-American internment camps used during WWII.

Reno, Nevada
The annual Great Reno Balloon Race is a good place to get up close with lots of hot air balloons, spectacular colors, and friendly people.

Some of those balloons are really cool!! But, the coolest thing about this post is the Tremor’s poster! And, is that a photo of the rocks that they pole vault between in Tremors 1?! Very neat!!

Wow! The first ones to see where Tremors was filmed. I bet you missed having us all there to share it with, but thanks for the pictures! I think we need a Tremors party!

It’s nice to see the Tremors fans are still out there. The rocks are just a random shot that we thought looked like it could have been in a Tremors movie … maybe it was.
